Goes great with Terry’s EXTREME SMOKIN Hot Sauce.
Ingredients:
- 2 ¾ cups All purpose flour
- 2 tsp. baking powder
- 1 tsp salt
- ¼ tsp baking soda
- 10 tbsp. cold unsalted butter, cubed
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese (I used extra old)
- 1/3 cup minced fresh chives
- 1 cup buttermilk
- 4 tbsp. TERRY’S SMOKIN EXTREME UNIQUE HOT SAUCE
- 1 egg beaten with 1 tbsp. water
Method:
- Preheat oven to 375˚. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Whisk together first 4 ingredients. Cut butter with a pastry blender or fork until pea-sized.
- Stir in the cheddar and chives, then add buttermilk and 2 tbsp. water. Knead gently just until blended.
- Turn dough out onto a lightly floured surface and pat into an 8 inch square. Cut dough into 2 inch squares then cut squares into triangles. Arrange scones on a prepared baking sheet, spaced 1 inch apart, and brush with egg-water mixture. Bake until golden, about 25 minutes.
